Specializing in Soft Tissue Injuries, Post-Surgical, Post-Colic, Wound Care and Broodmares/Foaling
We offer a full range of rehabilitation care including managing soft tissue injuries, post-surgical care, bandaging of wounds/surgery sites, post-colic care/feeding, administering medications, broodmare care, foaling, and other specialized care. Contact us with your needs - we develop a specific program for each individual horse and owner with the goal of returning to your home facility and professionals. We pride ourselves on our ability to work with a wide variety of medical proffesionals in many fields and always aim to return horses to their home training program.
We find that most horses enjoy the relaxed and quiet atmosphere at Hamilton Ridge Farm if they are required to be on stall rest. The barn has an open feel helping reduce the anxiety of horses not used to being stalled. We feed hay throughout the day and customize an individual plan for grain to ensure horses maintain their condition during stall rest and rehabilitation. Remote surveillance is available for horses requiring more intense monitoring.
For horses that require hand walking - Carrie has 25+ years experience handling everything from race fit thoroughbreds to competitive sport horses and is available to walk multiple times a day as needed. Small lots are available for initial and transitional turnout prior to large field turnout.
For foaling and broodmare care the facility has a large 12 x 24 foaling stall with private run out. Remote surveillance is available during foaling to ensure the best possible care.
Heated buckets are used in winter to ensure horses drink well. Paper bedding is used to reduce dust and provide improved air quality. Stalls are cleaned twice a day.
Transportation to and from Michigan State University Vet clinic and Saginaw Valley Equine Clinic is available.
