Why do you massage
the whole body, if I
know where my horse
is sore?
Horses are masters of compensation.  They can and will
continue to walk and run even when they are suffering
from serious injuries.  This leads to muscles and soft
tissues being used in ways that are not in balance with
their body structures.

For example, even though the horse may have a
“reactive” right shoulder, the true cause may be a sore
or injured left hind leg.

I believe massaging the entire horse allows me to find
areas of soreness or muscle spasm that the owner may
not have been aware of.  Treating these places on the
horse’s body, along with the areas of the body that are
obviously reactive, leads to a more comfortable horse
and better overall results.
