When Can I Ride My
Horse After He Has
Been Massaged?
Your horse can be ridden as soon as the massage is
finished. At a minimum the horse needs to be hand walked
or lunged for about 10 minutes. It is better for the horse to
be worked after the massage to help the body get rid of
the toxins released from the muscle tissue and to prevent
any soreness. Working the horse also helps the muscles
its short and tight state.
Riding in a “long and low” frame or “long trotting” your
horse, letting them stretch and move forward is the best
thing you can do after a massage. The horse can,
however, return to regular work or showing immediately
following their massage.
